3. My candle is tunneling, what can I do?
It is crucial to ensure that during the initial burn, your candle completely melts the wax to the edges of the jar. This process typically requires approximately two to two and a half hours. If you extinguish the candle before the wax reaches the edge, it will result in tunneling. To resolve tunneling, you can light the candle and place a piece of aluminum foil with a hole in the center over the jar. This will enhance the heat surrounding the jar and facilitate the melting of accumulated wax. However, it is important to periodically check and remove the foil once the remaining wax has fully melted. Caution should be exercised as the foil will become hot.
4. My candle will not stay lit, why is that?
There may be a few reasons for that! Some helpful information to know is:
The wick is too far above the surface of the wax when the candle is initially lit. Solution: Make sure the wick is trimmed to be no longer than 1/4" above the wax.
Wooden Wicks do need some attention and tending to before each burn. Solution: Be sure to gently snap off the ash or burnt wood along the top edge of the wick and then light up as usual.
If when burning the candle for a long period of time you notice the flame height getting too low, it may be necessary to tap off any excess ash or burnt wood along the top of the wick. The flame will then return to its proper optimal height.
